A Minor Triumph
I did complete a full lap of the Back Cove path without so much as a hamstring twinge. Ran it in 29:55 with my HR Average at 123. For those keeping score at home, the pais 3.54 miles or 5.7K. I'll run again on Saturday.

Starting Over
I've continued to struggle with my leg injury. I have been able to run sporatically provided I keep the distance short. My fitness has waned (I have HR data to verify that). My immediate goal is to run 3 times per week and to use the rowing machine another 3 times per week. If I can build some consistency my fitness will improve and my weight will come down. So, we'll see. It's back to the Back Cove path tomorrow morning.

The Rebuilding Process
The same 2 lap workout this morning:
14:51 141
14:20 126
My fitness is off now and my weight is up. It'll take time to rebuild fitness and drop weight but I'll do it.

The Other Way
After a day off, I did the 2 lap cycle again today. To mix things up a bit, I ran it counter clockwise, rather than clockwise. It runs a little harder counter clockwise:
14:58 132
14:16 119
The good news: no hamstring pain.

Damage Control
230.6
I've tested my leg (well, legs and heart and lungs) twice now, under controlled circumstances. I now have a relatively flat, 1.75 mile (2.8K) loop that starts and ends at my front door and includes views of Casco Bay (above, with phallic symbol in foreground).
I ran the loop twice, both today and yesterday.
Saturday:
14:49 Ave HR = 126
14:16 131
Sunday:
14:38 136
13:47 121
The first lap HR stuff is a little misleading because of my tachycardia that temporarily accompanies the start to many of my runs. All in all, OK. I felt a bit of my hamstring pain this morning but it improved, rather than worsened, during the run.
I'll keep it short and steady and run again tomorrow.
