Jogged the course for Saturday's race yesterday morning. It's a good, honest course--a bit of an uphill at the start then flat and fair. Much of the race is on a road which fronts a lovely beach (pictured here in the summer).
Here's the challenge: it's supposed to be in the mid-20s F with "severe winds". It is (will be) December in Maine. I suppose cold and wind is fair too.

Are they the back markers from last year's race in the photo? I'm sure you'll be able to beat them.
There was a guy (presumably) dressed in a big green frog outfit at Ohtawara last week. Maybe it was the chicken outfit man. Anyway, he gave more than one Nambanner a run for their money. Probably beat some too.
Anyway, good luck Pete. I'm sure you'll bring it home strong, wind or no wind.
Thanks, Steve, it'll be fun I hope. I'm trying to ignore the weather.
My focus will be on the foolish rowing marathon after this but I'll continue to run twice a week (a one hour run and a 75-90 minute run) through the winter. I'm looking forward to racing again in the spring, summer, and fall.
